Complexo Maré Saúde

The ASAS Group develops sustainable social projects that aim to improve overall health and quality of life in the Complexo da Maré community. The Group also runs a high-quality community vegetable garden in the slum of Maré. The Complexo Maré Health project, with the support of BrazilFoundation, encouraged elderly citizens and other residents, especially those that suffered from diabetes and hypertension, to eat healthy food produced in the garden including the “green juice” – a chlorophyll juice made out of squeezed wheat grass.

The project helped to improve the health of the local community. Greater stability in blood pressure levels and decreases in glucose rates were observed among program participants.
