Melhorar a gestão para conservar mais

Improving organizational management and diversifying funding to promote conservation

Created in 1988 in an effort to contain deforestation in rubber tapping areas in the state of Acre, SOS Amazônia is a leader in biodiversity preservation and environmental awareness. The association works with low-income rural, indigenous and riverside communities to create projects that focus on forest conservation and awareness as well as local socioeconomic development.

With support from BrazilFoundation, SOS Amazônia aims to implement a compliance program and diversify funding sources. The goal is to increase institutional transparency and trust for donors and society in general, connecting people with environmental causes.

With support from BrazilFoundation, the Association will:

• Create a strategic fundraising plan, focusing on non-governmental resources;
• Finish restructuring the institution’s website, making it a more dynamic platform focusing on donations and transparency;
• Improve the effectiveness of internal management and financial processes as well as techniques to strengthen institutional management;
• Train 10 people to implement and monitor the compliance program;
• Update and refine management tools and support enforcement of standards and ethics in internal regulations.
