#LiftUpPhilanthropy

Developing a support system for a thriving philanthropic sector in Brazil

WINGS works to catalyze, accelerate, connect and influence the philanthropic sector to help it grow, develop and contribute to an effective and diverse civil society. One of its studies shows that philanthropic investment from private organizations in Latin America equals less than 1% of global funds in the sector, which challenges development in the region.

In an effort to help develop a philanthropic ecosystem in the region, in 2018 WINGS created the #LiftUpPhilanthropy campaign. With the grant, its project aims to support the campaign and promote dialogue about the need for investing in Brazil’s nonprofit sector. It will also identify concrete actions to help generate more engagement around philanthropy in the country.

With support from BrazilFoundation, WINGS aims to:

• Increase awareness on the importance of the philanthropic support ecosystem;
• Identify gaps and opportunities to improve the sector’s infrastructure in Brazil;
• Discuss how Brazilian support systems can work together to develop philanthropy;
• Identify concrete actions (individual and joint) for the campaign;
• Suggest concrete ways to boost philanthropy in Brazil through private and individual funders.
