BrazilFoundation shares its 2018 Annual Report and year’s investment impact

The year 2018 was one that succeeded our expectations. Despite the many social and economic challenges faced by Brazil in 2018, BrazilFoundation had a record-breaking year in grantmaking – with more than R$10 million invested in direct grants to 178 organizations in 23 states of Brazil. This is a collective achievement and a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together.

These investments are a result of fundraising strategies that prioritized partnerships and collaboration. As more Brazilian organizations looked internationally to secure funding, we lowered our Donor Advised fees and partnered with more organizations, allowing the program to grow. We also joined forces with several new family funds and renewed partnerships to provide our grantees much needed continued support.

Our second {abrace o Brasil} campaign mobilized over 5,800 donors, breaking the previous year’s records in fundraising. We held our first Gala in Minas Gerais, engaging a new region of enthusiastic philanthropists in our community. On the ground, we continue to observe growing innovation, which we strive to meet by providing seed funding for startups, collectives, and informal initiatives. We also continue to respond to pressing social needs by funding projects in education, workforce inclusion and civic engagement.

We celebrate two recognitions for transparency and achievement: Instituto Doar’s award for the 100 Best NGOs in Brazil, and the Brazilian Association of Fundraising Professionals (ABCR) Organization of the Year award for our {abrace o Brasil campaign}. We thank all who helped make this year a great one for philanthropy and grantmaking, and look forward to a great 2019!
