Rio Committee Gathers Supporters to Strengthen Philanthropy
A special night for Rio! Yesterday Liza Diamond and Mandy Gulbrandsen, members of the BrazilFoundation Rio Committee, gathered supporters to strengthen the culture of philanthropy and affect social change in Brazil – starting with Rio.
Arminio de Fraga, BrazilFoundation Founder Leona Forman, and leaders from the social projects in Rio were all present, including: Julia Rangel from Rede Postinho de Saúde, an organization that offers health care for women from Morro Cantagalo and Pavão / Pavãozinho; Alan Duarte of the Abraço Campeão, an initiative that uses boxing to transforms the lives of young people from Complexo do Alemão; and Tiago Cosmo of Camerata Laranjeiras, a project that uses classical music to promote entrepreneurship and professional training for youth. Tiago brought several musicians with him to treat the guests with a beautiful performance.
“We believe that it is crucial to continue to merge the business world with the non-profit sector to create partnerships and find new ways to improve the philanthropic efforts. One of those key points is to highlight that ‘donating’ is actually a way of making your life and country better. So the word ‘giving’ should really be replaced by ‘investing’ because we are all ultimately donating to create a better Brazil.” – Liza
Our sincerest thanks to: Liza and Mandy for their dedication and for organizing this event, NCH Capital for the dinner, and all who attended!
