Professional training in sewing and printing for women in Jardim Canadá

Jardim Canadá originated from an irregular occupation along the BR 040, far from the urban center of Nova Lima and Belo Horizonte, a consequence of the great immigration of people in search of work in the nearby mining companies. It is a region of high population density and many social contrasts. Their socioeconomic indicators indicate a impoverished reality, without many social assistance resources or work opportunities and income for the women.

The Social Institute Casa de Mãe provides support to women in the Jardim Canadá neighborhood in four main areas: professional training, entrepreneurship, maternal and child health and early childhood education.

The Ateliê Social is a sewing and professional printing training project for women who live in the neighborhood, expanding their possibilities of their entrepreneurism and income generation, improving the quality of life for themselves and their families.

With support from BrazilFoundation, Casa de Mãe will aim to:

• Capacitação profissional em costura e estamparia;
• Contratação de profissionais;
• Aquisição de material.
