BrazilFoundation raises R$1 million at IV Gala São Paulo

With Education as the theme, the event will honor Claudio Haddad, of INSPER, and Eduardo Lyra, of Instituto Gerando Falcões, along with celebrating the Abrace o Brasil campaign.

The gala took place at Casa Fasano, with CHANEL again as co-host, raising R$1 million. BrazilFoundation recognized the work of Claudio Haddad and Eduardo Lyra.

Claudio Haddad is the Founder and President of the Board of INSPER, a non-profit educational and research institution. In 2004 INSPER created its scholarship program with the objective of providing opportunities for young talent who may not have the financial means. The project is high impact in that it transforms the lives of young people, contributes to a more equal society, and promotes Brazil’s development. He is also a member of the board for Ideal Invest S.A, Instituto Unibanco, Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein and Ensina Brasil. He has a PhD. in Economics from the University of Chicago, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and participated in Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management program.

Eduardo Lyra grew up poor. He was inspired by his mother, who would say “Son, it doesn’t matter where you come from, but where you’re going”. Eduardo became a journalist, author, screenwriter and social entrepreneur. Eduardo was chosen by the World Economic Forum as one of 15 young Brazilians who can change the world, a recognition affiliated with Global Shapers. He was also listed by Forbes as one of the 30 most influential young people in Brazil under 30. In 2011 he founded Instituto Gerando Falcões, an organization that trains projects with potential for great social-impact. The organization promotes opportunities in peripheral communities, favelas and prisons, focusing on: sports, culture, income generation, and professional training for ex-inmates.

Sophie Charlotte and Flávio Canto were the MCs of the night. Ingrid Guimarães and Bruno Astuto hosted the auction, and Preta Gil closed the evening with a show, followed by DJ Marina Diniz.
